Photo Essay
The subject of my photoessay is nature. I took these photographs at the Swansea Dam. These picture are tranquil and relay a calming message. I selected this place because I always drive by and see how beautiful it really is. The animals and waterfall just are beautiful. This place was not important to me before I spent the time there to photograph the scenery. It was the first stop on my list of places to photograh and it ended up meeting all my standards and made a great photoessay. The concept I am trying to portray is the peace and beauty of the Swansea Dam and its animals. Visually every picture in the essay just flows to the next picture. I did not keep in mind how to make them create a story while I was photographing I just let it happen. After capturing and editing all my photos I set them up in a way so that they would almost seem seamless. I took the photos outside during the day so there was all natural light. Each picture has a different angle to capture the full beauty of the object. I chose to keep them all in color because in color they relay a happy message but in black and white it can be thought of as upsetting and depressing.
Letters
For this assignment I chose to spell my last name Fontatine. I chose this because I knew my last name had some cool letter and I was up for a challenge. The letter "F" was made with two rulers because I couldn't find one in nature. The next letter was found in the engineering design room using a white pipe I found that the end of the pipe formed a nice "o" the next letter was found in the classroom with an old camera stand i rotated it a tad to form the "n". The letter "t" was the side of the school brick part i rotated it to make it a "t". The next letter was found in the engineering room too I took the the picture far away and it created the letter "a". The "i" was found in the front of the school. The next "n" was wood from the engineering room. And the last letter was the brake light of a car parked outside. I found this project to be very fun. Finding letter forms in nature was easier than I thought. If I had to do it again I would do my first name.
